Uncertainty in Modeling
The traditional summer school organised in cooperation between the Bauhaus University Weimar, Ruhr-University Bochum and Technical University Vienna will be held in Weimar from 5th to 7th of September 2016.
Requirements for modern civil engineering structures with respect to reliability, safety, and usability put high demands on engineering models, which have to be trustable in order to predict lifetime behaviour of a structure. In practice it means that engineers are dealing with models having different sources of uncertainties in them, and engineers have to be able to identify and quantify these sources. Therefore, the main idea of the summer school is to bring together experts in order to discuss the problem of dealing with uncertainty in modelling process. This summer school is the next step in a row of the summer schools organised by research groups in Bochum, Vienna and Weimar since 2009.
This year, Ph.D. students and leading scientists from Austria, Germany, France, Netherlands, and US will come to Weimar to share their ideas and discuss modern approaches to problems in civil engineering. The summer school provides a perfect opportunity for students of the Bauhaus University to get acquainted with the state of the art in modern civil engineering.
