The following applies to German-speaking applicants:
You can demonstrate level B2 proficiency of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) in the following ways:
- Submission of a secondary school leaving certificate (Abitur) documenting at least six years of English instruction (from the seventh grade up to the completion of secondary school studies). The final grade - or, if applicable, the average grade - of the last two years must be at least the grade of 2,0 (gut) or 10 points;
or
- Submission of proof of a successfully completed English-language Bachelor's degree.
If you cannot demonstrate your English proficiency in this manner, please provide one of the following language certificates no more than two years old (comparable certificates are subject to case-by-case review):

We recommend that you, before coming to Germany, you acquire a minimum of German proficiency in order to be able to manage your day-to-day life. Please do not assume that English is spoken in all public institutions, doctors and authorities.
You can demonstrate level B2 proficiency of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) in the following ways:
- first or further academic degree in a country where the language of instruction and the official language is English (except India and Pakistan).
If you cannot demonstrate your English proficiency in this manner, please provide one of the following language certificates no more than two years old (comparable certificates are subject to case-by-case review):
