Ideenlabor Weimar for the #NewEuropeanBauhaus | The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Klassik Stiftung Weimar Extend Invitation to major digital conference in May

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar together with the Thüringer Ministerium für Infrastruktur und Landwirtschaft invite you to the Ideenlabor Weimar digital conference on 9, 13 and 14 May 2021. As a contribution to the design phase of the #NewEuropeanBauhaus, part of an ecological movement kick-started by the EU Commission across Europe, the multi-format conference narrows in on the core question posed by the early Bauhaus: »How do we want to live?« A full-day live streaming event on Europe Day (9 May) and two digital workshop days will generate inspiration for the future, establish networks, and build bridges between culture and science, art and technology, and past and future.

The Ideenlabor is explicitly aimed at a broad audience, including (but not limited to) experts from the natural sciences and humanities fields. Students, architects, designers, representatives from the construction industry, individuals from innovative field, project applicants for the New European Bauhaus as well as anyone interested in the Bauhaus and culture are all welcome to contribute in the spirit of the early Bauhaus.

On Sunday, 9 May, the Ideenlabor Weimar will kick off the event with a public, full-day live streaming event, which will include guests such as EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, as well as science and culture experts such as climate researcher Hans Joachim Schnellhuber and sociologist Armin Nassehi. The kick-off event will provide an overview of the topics that will be covered, as well as central questions and initiatives.
On Thursday, 13 May and Friday, 14 May, the Ideenlabor will begin the working phase with two days of workshops. This virtual, multi-format conference will offer both experts and non-experts from all disciplines and of all ages the chance to learn together and start developing concrete ecological, scientific, social and cultural projects. The diverse and inspiring programme was developed together with partner institutions, sponsors and innovators from the art and culture scenes, science and civil society. The Ideenlabor event app is the central platform. Registered participants will receive their login information a few days before the online conference begins.
Parallel to the online conference, a »Galerie der Ideen« (gellary of ideas) project exchange will take place, focussing attention on existing projects and bringing them together in the spirit of Europe's ecological development. Joint work can continue in the virtual project workshop.
Registration for the Ideenlabor Weimar and project registration is now open on the Ideenlabor website  www.ideenlabor-weimar.de.

In accepting this invitation from the EU, the Ideenlabor Weimar considers itself a significant addition to the series of conversations on establishing the #NewEuropeanBauhaus partner network. The goal is to rethink the world instead of simply optimising it. The shift in ecological awareness and society on the path to creating a new concept of society is also a cultural project. The Ideenlabor Weimar is just one of many steps in this journey.

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is organising the Ideenlabor Weimar together with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Thüringer Ministerium für Infrastruktur und Landwirtschaft.
The digital conference will take place in cooperation with the German  National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the International Building Exhibition Thüringen (IBA), the Bauhaus Kooperation and the »Germany - Land of Ideas« initiative. The event is funded by the  Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien, the Free State of Thuringia, the Stiftung für Technologie, Innovation und Forschung Thüringen, and Klimaschutzstiftung Jena-Thüringen.
