The exhibition of a total of 17 works goes back to an initiative of the university’s Modernist Archive and überLand e.V., which offered the art prize for five years. The goal was to create a unique collection of contemporary art from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar so it could be presented it to the public in the anniversary year of the first Bauhaus exhibition.
During the summer semester of every year since 2017, a jury has been selecting up to five artists from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar whose works would then be included in the custodial collection and thus become inalienable public art assets – a very special distinction. As part of an open competition, the acquired works were also on display in the »born to be bauhaus« exhibition.
This year, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is showing all the acquired works for the first time in the synopsis exhibition »reframing the future«. The presentation is embedded in the »POWER HOUSE« anniversary exhibition of the university gallery nova space in the Schiller Museum, forming its episode 04.
»reframing the future« will also be changing regularly during the exhibition period and will be brought to life with a wide-ranging accompanying programme. Thus the exhibition is once again divided into three acts, similar to a triptych, enabling visitors to make new connections and change perspectives in the interplay of artworks.
All interested parties are cordially invited to the Schiller Museum for the opening of the first act of the »reframing the future« exhibition at 8 pm on Tuesday, 15 August 2023.

BACKGROUND
In the 100th anniversary year of the first Bauhaus exhibition, nova space, the university gallery of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, will occupy the exhibition rooms of the Schiller Museum Weimar until the end of 2023. To this end, the university gallery is cooperating with external curators and various initiatives of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, in this case with the Modernist Archive. The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is dedicating its 2023 annual programme to the topic of housing and giving centre stage to the State Bauhaus Weimar. The foundation is putting its focus on the future of housing and life together, inviting people to engage with the ideas surrounding sustainable construction, discussing topics such as displacement and gentrification and relating all of these concepts to historical housing forms. Klassik Stiftung Weimar, in cooperation with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Kunstfest Weimar, will be reviving the Bauhaus Weeks at the authentic location from 15 August to 10 September.
