The computer vision in engineering group focuses on the automated analysis of image-based information. The rapid development of flexible, light-weight and inexpensive sensors in recent years has led to an increasingly large and more complex mass of image data. One major challenge is to precisely and efficiently analyze this flood of data for a variety of applications.
We develop sensor platforms and innovative computer algorithms to derive spatial information of objects from digital images. For example, this allows us to determine the camera motion in dynamic video sequences and to reconstruct the surface of objects from stereoscopic images. For object recognition and real-world modeling, we also apply methods of model-based image analysis.
