Research in NLP and IR areas has the major impact on the development of many significant applications in our world. Search engines and machine translators are only two examples of a huge variety of useful applications that are conducted in these two areas. The objective of this seminar is to introduce several topics in the NLP and IR. This seminar is an opportunity for constructing new interesting knowledge of how the computer can understand human language texts, analyze them, and retrieve the relevant and important parts and insights based on expressed information need.
In weekly lecture units, students will explore different selected topics in NLP and IR, such as:
Particularly, each student will pick one paper from the selected topics and present it in a long talk.
