Jutta Emes (née Müschen) has held the Chair for Marketing and Media Research at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since 2011 and has had the parallel role of a Vice President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since 2014. From 2022 to 2023, she was interim president of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar for one year.
Previously, she was Professor for Marketing Management at Steinbeis University Berlin, as well as Substitute Professor for International Management at the Bundeswehr University Munich. Furthermore, she was a University Lecturer for International Marketing and Entrepreneurial Marketing at the University of Liechtenstein, and a Visiting Professor at the Chair for Marketing at the University of Kassel.
Her academic background origins from her time at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Wuerzburg where she studied business economics before taking positions there as research assistant and research associate at the Chair for Business Administration and Marketing. She earned her doctorate in 1998 on the topic of "Market Entry Strategies in Middle and Eastern Europe" . Her dissertation was honored with both the Herbert-Quandt-Förderpreis 1999 from Altana AG and the TU Dresden, as well as the Oberbank-Wissenschaftspreis 1999 from the State of Upper Austria, Johannes Kepler University Linz, and the Wirtschaftsblatt. In 2004 she qualified as Professor, addressing the topic "Sources of Profit in the Music Industry: Potential for the Creation of Value and Changes in the Industry due to Digitalisation" (post-doctoral lecture qualification). Since April 2016, Jutta Emes has been a member of the administrative Board of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), Leipzig.
