Experience innovation and AI up close!

Are you interested in artificial intelligence and excited about developing ideas for the city of the future? Do you want to experience firsthand how AI is used in innovation processes to solve real challenges? Then the »Future City« Prompt-a-thon on November 15, 2024, is just right for you!

At our »Future City« Prompt-a-thon, you'll work in an interdisciplinary team to develop an innovative startup idea in one of the following three areas:

  • Mobility Reimagined: What does the future of urban mobility look like? What roles do new technologies play? How can we ensure that everyone reaches their destination quickly, safely, and sustainably?
  • Urban Reboot: How can we transform Weimar's vacant stores and unused spaces into vibrant hotspots? What startup idea can redefine the cityscape and elevate the quality of life for people of all ages in the city?
  • Empowering Participation: How can we strengthen the sense of community in urban spaces while promoting citizen participation? How can we ensure that marginalized groups and people who often have less of a voice are actively involved?

In tackling your challenge, you’ll use various AI tools, such as ChatGPT, to develop innovative solutions in a short time. Experienced mentors will guide you and your team throughout the Prompt-a-thon, leading you through the innovation process and supporting you in using the AI applications. At the end of the day, you'll pitch your startup idea with your team to a jury and have the chance to win attractive prizes!

What is a Prompt-a-thon?

A Prompt-a-thon is an event where teams use AI tools, primarily by creating prompts (instructions for the AI), to develop innovative solutions and ideas. Similar to a hackathon, but with a focus on language models like ChatGPT, participants work on creative or problem-oriented projects within a set time frame. At the end, they present their results to a jury. The emphasis is on the creative use of AI rather than programming skills.

When and where is the »Future City« Prompt-a-thon taking place?

The »Future City« Prompt-a-thon will take place on Friday, November 15, 2024, starting at 9 a.m. until around 8 p.m. at the Gründerwerkstatt neudeli, Helmholtzstraße 15 in Weimar.

Before the main event, you're invited to a digital kick-off workshop, where you'll receive a thematic introduction to the »Future City« topic with the challenges »Mobility Reimagined«, »Urban Reboot«, and »Empowering Participation«. You'll also get detailed information about the event’s schedule, have the opportunity to ask any questions, and learn how to write effective prompts to get the best results using generative AI tools. This will ensure you're well-prepared for the main event on November 15, 2024.

About two weeks after the Prompt-a-thon, a joint wrap-up meeting will provide a space for reflection, feedback, and further exchange of ideas.

How does the Prompt-a-thon work, and is there catering?

During the Prompt-a-thon, you'll work in an interdisciplinary team (4-6 people) on one of the three challenges: »Mobility Reimagined«, »Urban Reboot«, and »Empowering Participation«. The coaches from the Startup Hub neudeli will guide you through the process, explaining the various phases and innovation methods. You’ll also be supported by experienced AI mentors, who will offer tips and tricks for using tools like ChatGPT throughout the event.

Catering is provided as well: we will offer snacks and meals on-site, along with coffee and cold beverages.

What should I bring to the Prompt-a-thon?

Since you'll be working with digital tools, it’s ideal if you bring a laptop or a tablet. If you don’t have access to a suitable device, a solution can likely be found within your team.

How can I have my participation in the Prompt-a-thon recognized as academic credit?

To have your participation in the Prompt-a-thon recognized as part of the Bauhaus.Modules with 3 ECTS, attendance at the digital kick-off workshop, the actual Prompt-a-thon, and the joint wrap-up after the event is required. The assessment consists of the group presentation of the startup idea to the jury on the day of the Prompt-a-thon. For information about counting the »Future City« Prompt-a-thon towards the Bauhaus.module, please contact your student advisor.
