1. Preparatory Online Meeting (2.6.)
This session gives a brief introduction to COIL and an overview of our workshop programme in Weimar. Teaching partners will have an opportunity to exchange some basic information about the existing courses and the student cohorts for which they are imagining a joint COIL project.
2. COIL Design Workshop in Weimar (11.-13.6.)
Meeting your teaching partner in person and co-creating your project plan together will provide an excellent foundation for a successful COIL project. Experienced COIL facilitators will walk you through each part of the development process, including defining internationalized learning outcomes, designing icebreakers and collaborative tasks, discussing assessment and reflection processes, making tech choices and clarifying implementation issues. As a final product you and your partner will have the outline of your project idea, which you will present to the group and receive feedback on.

Review:
What are the biggest challenges in international cooperation projects? What are the conditions for success? Why is it worthwhile and what are the most important lessons learned?
These questions were the focus of the lively exchange between experienced and interested people from all faculties who came together in a relaxed atmosphere at the bauhaus.atelier. The check-in round already revealed a wide range of expertise and contexts of experience, as well as a lot of curiosity and need for exchange and networking, especially on the part of the (junior) professors who are new to our university. This was a good basis for the following round of talks, in which a wide variety of project experiences were shared:
Following the rich plenary round, the buffet was opened, discussions continued in smaller groups and personal contacts were made. This evening was the successful start of the BauhausTrack networking evening event series, which aims to make experiential knowledge at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar visible and usable. It offers space to promote informal exchange among professors, junior professors and postdocs.

Succeeding academically and socially at the university can be challenging for any student from any cultural or academic background. However, international students often face additional difficulties, not only because they must study in a foreign language, but also perform within a legal system and a culture of teaching and learning that is substantially different to what they are accustomed to.
In this ideas workshop, we would like to engage in conversation with teachers and students around the following questions:
We will share our experiences and collect tools and good practices for the international classroom. In the end, we want to walk away inspired and motivated to create more effective and more inclusive learning environments.

Teaching and learning styles worldwide: India
How does one teach and learn in other countries and cultures? How are the roles of teachers and students defined and what expectations and unwritten rules are associated with them? What are the differences to the German higher education system and how can one teach and learn successfully in culturally diverse contexts?
India was the subject for the kick-off of this new online education format, which aims to raise awareness of culturally specific approaches to teaching and learning among students and faculty of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Intercultural trainer Jyotika Dalal started with an overview presentation and raised some interesting questions, which were then explored on the virtual panel. Students and faculty from India or with German-Indian intercultural experience shared their unique experiences and perspectives and responded to questions and comments from the audience.
Panelists:
Sneha Singh, Doctoral student Media Philosophy,
Tom Lahmer, Professor Stochastics and Optimization and Head of Institute of Structural Mechanics
Johann Michael Schwind, Teaching and Research Associate at the Chair of Urban Planning

Expert exchange for teachers in virtual international collaboration projects
(ERASMUS+ BIP, IVAC, etc.)
7.Oktober 13-15 Uhr online
Developing students‘ intercultural skills is a central objective of the ERASMUS+ blended intensive programme. But: the simple exposure to diversity does not automatically lead to intercultural learning. It takes the skilful and culturally sensitive guidance of the teacher/facilitator for the students to co-create meaningful intercultural learning experiences.
We invite you and your BIP partners to an expert exchange on how to integrate the intercultural dimension into your course design. You will get the opportunity to connect with and learn from fellow colleagues who will also teach BIP programmes this year. After a short expert impulse we will exchange ideas, perspectives and questions on what it takes to successfully transform an international experience into intercultural learning.

Teaching for Tomorrow
University teaching in the context of sustainable development goals
Sustainability is an urgent social development task development task that higher education must increasingly address. must. In order to create more justice and a better living environment for all, the the UN has defined 17 sustainable development goals. The UNESCO program "Education for Sustainable Development" (ESD) places education education as the most powerful lever for achieving the 17 goals.
What does this mean for us as university teachers? What contribution can and do you want to make? Which of the SDGs are particularly important to you personally, and how can you connect them with your subject-specific teaching content? What challenges do you face and What is the potential of international and interdisciplinary learning groups? Guided by these questions we will discuss, exchange and inspire each other.
Let’s do it together: Connection – Reflection – Action!

Unstuck your potential! – embodiment workshop and peer networking
10.06.2021 18:15 – 20:15
during the Long Night of Academic Writing 2021
We all know this: we are trying to create something – a piece of writing, a research project, some kind of innovation – and it is just not moving forward. We feel stuck!
Good news is: stuck is not a problem, it is part of a creative process.
In this workshop, we invite you to get out of your head and tap into your bodymind’s intelligence. Every stuck has a physical manifestation which can help us understand the current reality and explore future possibilities. With simple yet powerful exercises we access our intuition and make visible the deeper leverage points for creating change and moving forward.
No previous embodiment knowledge or experience is required. You will need to connect with audio and video and show up with your whole body. Number of participants is limited, registration in advance is recommended.
