Each December, you have the opportunity to apply for an exchange place at one of our approximately 250 partner universities in one of the following exchange categories.
Exchange category 1: »KA131« |
---|
This exchange category includes all exchanges that take place at a partner university within Europe and whose home countries are members of the EU's ERASMUS program (incl. UK, excl. Switzerland). |
Exchange category 2: »Bilateral« |
---|
You are in this exchange category if you would like to complete your studies abroad at a partner university outside of Europe (incl. Switzerland). |
Exchange category 3: »KA171« |
---|
In this exchange category, exchanges outside of Europe take place at one of our KA107 partner universities. |
Exchange category 4: »Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs)« |
---|
This category includes short-term stays at European partner universities of Bauhaus-Universität, which can be funded with an ERASMUS grant under certain conditions. You can find an overview of the general conditions here. |
Exchange category 5: »Free Mover« |
---|
This category includes stays at universities with which Bauhaus-Universität Weimar does not have a partnership agreement. You have to organize the study place at the desired university abroad yourself (admission procedure) and the financing is largely in your hands. |
Application Applying as a "Free Mover" primarily means taking your own initiative at the earliest possible time. The International Office can only offer very limited support in the preparation, since all necessary steps from the initial information about the study program of the chosen university to the admission and enrollment must be completed by yourself and clarified in dialogue with the respective university and your faculty at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. |
Tips and Advice You should start your preparations at least 15 months before you plan to begin your studies. The first step is the choice of the target university. Make it clear during your initial contact with the foreign university that you intend to study only part-time as a "non-degree-seeking student", as this will simplify the application and admission process. Also, tuition fees are often considerably higher for degree-seeking students. Do not underestimate the problem of funding partial study abroad as a "free mover". Keep in mind that scholarship applications often have to be submitted very early (12 months or more). |
