If you have fled from Ukraine and would like to start studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, you will find some information here about the courses on offer and the prerequisites. These also apply if you would like to continue your previous studies.
The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has four faculties: Architecture/Urban Studies, Civil Engineering, Art and Design as well as Media. Please find an overview of alle programmes here: Academic Programmes.
All bachelor's degree programmes are offered in German. Therefore, German language skills at the C1 level are one of the prerequisites for starting a bachelor's degree programme.
At the master's level, there are some English-language programmes, e.g., in art and in computer science as well as in engineering, which require a B2 or C1 level in English. In the other master's programmes, the language of instruction is also German (C1).
Our Language Centre offers German courses at various levels. For students who have fled from Ukraine, language courses are free of charge in the 2023/2024 winter semester. Please contact the Language Centre directly.
For some (e.g. artistic) degree programmes, you usually have to successfully take an aptitude test.
The bachelor's degree programmes all start in the winter semester. The 2023/2024 winter semester starts on 1 October 2023.
Enrolment in a higher semester for the 2023/2024 winter semester and recognition of academic achievements:
Enrolment for the 2023/2024 winter semester is only possible by individual decision. Please send an e-mail with your desired course of study as well as details and available evidence of your school-leaving qualification (Abitur) and your previous studies to studium[at]uni-weimar.de.
Taking individual courses without enrolment:
If you are already enrolled at a (Ukrainian) university, you can apply for adjunct auditorship. This means that you can attend one module or two courses per semester and take exams for them. To do this, you need to clarify which module or courses are suitable. Then contact the teaching staff with a request to sign your application. You submit the application to the Campus.Office / Office of Student and Academic Affairs.
The staff of the Office of Student and Academic Affairs will be happy to advise you on general study enquiries as well as on specific enquiries about a particular degree programme. They are happy to check whether it is possible to study in your desired degree programme and when a start would be realistic. Specific requests will be forwarded to the relevant faculty.
Please send any questions to studium[at]uni-weimar.de. The staff will endeavour to find solutions within the framework of the study regulations and to deal with your request promptly.
