DREIECKSBEZIEHUNG (Eng.: TRIANGULAR AFFINITY): New marke.6 exhibition on the relationship between words, images and sounds

The team at marke.6 have been developing an extraordinary exhibition at the Neues Museum in Weimar since January 2014, and starting 15 May 2014, the public will finally have a chance to see it. Musicians from the Liszt School of Music and artists from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar have teamed up to explore the relationship between the written word, sounds and images.

Three different types of media make reference to one another, but also serve as sources of mutual inspiration. The project began with musical sequences composed by students of The Liszt School of Music. Interested designers of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar listened to the pieces via Internet, and inspired by what they heard, created new works. These included installations, photos, graphic works and paintings. Other artists responded to these with the written word – in the form of prose, poems and expository pieces – to express the moods and feelings evoked by the melodies and images, either by themselves or in combination with one another.

The exhibition highlights the interaction and reaction which occur in this three-way relationship. The artistic elements constantly react, inspire and play off one another in ever-changing constellations.

The exhibition DREIECKSBEZIEHUNG (TRIANGULAR AFFINITY) represents the inspiring and stimulatingly creative relationship between the Liszt School of Music and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

marke.6 is the exhibition venue of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar at the Neues Museum, operated in cooperation with the University Student Council and the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. marke.6 is particularly committed to presenting contemporary fields of art and design, initiating discourse, encouraging potential and promoting experimentation.
