Gold Instead of Brown
For the third national »Actionstag« on 8 May 2023, the university is showing its support for the numerous educational, artistic and cultural institutions, as well as many others standing up for diversity, respect and tolerance on the 78th anniversary of the liberation from German National Socialism.
The unifying symbol for this initiative is the colour gold, which was first chosen by the »Netzwerk Die Vielen« and has left its mark on Weimar’s cityscape in past years. Instead of the widely-available emergency blankets, the university has opted for a more sustainable poster, which will be displayed in various locations from 4 May and people are encouraged to pick one up and display it at home in windows, etc. Posters will be available at the ground floor/passage of Amalienstraße 13, in M18 »Haus der Studierenden«/Café, Schwanseestraße 143, and in the Bauhaus.Atelier during regular opening times. The balcony of the Main Building and the courtyard will also be decorated by University Communications.
The radiant gold poster will continue to attract attention to the »Courage.Curiosity.Confidence« initiative, which was launched by university members three years ago.
A public discussion on lived democracy and a solidarity-based society is scheduled to take place from 4 to 7 pm in front of the mon ami/Kasseturm with an open stage and cozy seating.
We look forward to hearing from you and wish to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your efforts towards creating a peaceful coexistence and an environment that is characterised by diversity, respect and tolerance, both at the university and beyond.
With warmest wishes on behalf of the Presidium
Prof. Peter Benz
