Opening ceremony of the Musik.Pavilion on 19 September 2019

During the 2019 summer semester, architecture students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar designed a mobile pavilion for public spaces as part of a project sponsored by the European Union. It is dedicated to the three renowned composers Clara Schumann, Edvard Grieg and Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. The pavilion called »TRAVELLING MUSICIANS | REISENDE MUSIKER – Clara, Edvard and Mikalojus Konstantinas« is currently being set up and will be officially opened on 19 September 2019 at Weimar Central Station.

Weimar is the starting point for the pavilion's journey across Europe, and its next stop will be Leipzig, which is where all three composers experienced a formative period of study at the local academy of music. Following in the footsteps of the concert tours of the three composers, the pavilion will then be on show in Norway and Lithuania, among other places.

»The structure made entirely of wood and steel will make its way through public buildings such as airports and railway stations, inviting bystanders to learn about the three composers and about what travel was like in those days, by means of various exhibition formats. With its structure, the pavilion will provide a rhythm and beat which makes reference to music« explains Hagen Höllering, Research Associate at the Chair of Presentation Methodology at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, who assisted in supervising the design process.

If interested, we cordially invite you to take a tour of the pavilion and its associated exhibition.
