The Gropiuszimmer-Pavilion in Dresden turns into a Venue for a Dance Performance

After its premiere on the Weimar Theaterplatz during Democracy Week in April 2019 and a subsequent stopover on the campus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Gropiuszimmer-Pavilion is now moving to the Deutsche Hygiene-Museum in Dresden.

There it will become the setting for a performance by the Dresden dance company subsTANZ. The performance «heim@« deals with the reality of life in a mobile society which is constantly trying to adapt to new living spaces and interpersonal relationships. In the reconstruction of »Gropius Zimmer« room, a historical new housing concept thus becomes the theme.

Julia Heinemann, research associate at the Chair of Building Morphology of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and initiator of the project, commented as follows: »The pavilion is travelling further now, after having invited people in Weimar for several months during the Bauhaus anniversary year to experience a structurally and intellectually constructed symbol of the open spatial concept of the young Bauhaus and the open concept of democracy, and to stop for a moment, take it all in, have a think, exchange ideas and opinions, and then reflect on it all«.

Afterwards the pavilion continues its journey down south...
