Virtual Self-Defense: The Department of Media Security will be talking about secure communication on the internet at a Crypto-Party.
On Friday, 20 September 2013, the Department of Media Security of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar invites everyone to a »Crypto-Party« in mon ami. From 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., all those who are interested, novice or not, can participate in workshops and lectures focusing on the topics of email encryption, online anonymity and password security.
Never has the security of personal data been more important than today. That's why this event is focusing on people who do not have daily access to cryptography, the science of secure communication in an insecure environment.
Prof. Dr. Stefan Lucks and his colleagues will provide initial insight on the topic: »Many users have been made insecure by the latest security scandals. We want to show people that they can defend themselves in the digital world with simple means«, explains Prof. Lucks.
The Crypto-Party will provide instructions for and tips on installing and using anti-spyware, in particular GnuPG for email encryption and TOR for anonymous surfing. Guests are therefore encouraged to bring their laptop, PC or Mac.
