Success at the »Laval Virtual 2025« VR/AR Festival: Faculty of Media Alumni Honoured
Two projects with connections to the Faculty of Media at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar were honoured last week at the Laval Virtual 2025 in France, the most important European event for virtual, augmented, and mixed reality.
The mixed reality company Consensive GmbH founded by the Computer Science of Media alumni won over the jury in the Developer & Authoring Tools category with its VR4more-GLoD solution. Its innovative technology enables output-sensitive 3D geometry streaming for Unity - and with it a smooth experience of highly detailed, large-format 3D data, even on low-performance hardware.
Media Art alumni and long-standing Faculty member Moritz Wehrmann was honoured for his participatory installation Alter Ego (Version II) as part of the Recto VRso art exhibition. His work invites participants to engage in an intensive dialogue and questioned the perception of self and the other - an impressive example of research at the interface between art and neuroscience.
In its 26th edition, Laval Virtual celebrated the creative unpredictability of immersive systems with this year’s festival theme of Pop-Chaos! and showed how alumni of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are shaping these dynamics in innovative and inspiring ways.
