POWER HOUSE: University Gallery exhibits on the Schiller-Museum premises in 2023
With the POWER HOUSE exhibition, nova space – the university gallery of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar æ will move into the Schiller-Museum in 2023 to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Bauhaus exhibition. Nova space will present a programme for several months that bundles the creative energies from the four faculties. This will provide a platform for contemporary art, design, architecture and research to come into contact with external guests and visitors.
In line with the Klassik Stiftung's annual theme - LIVING - the exhibition explores forms, definitions and states of spaces and our location in them. The term »POWER HOUSE« is borrowed from Pilates, where it describes the energy centre in the middle of the body, and from wrestling. Here it describes fighters who stand out because of their special physical strength. Analogous to the »Power Station«, the »POWER HOUSE« can also symbolise a power station in which new energy is generated.
Based on these ideas, the nova space will become the energetic power centre of the exhibition, a place for actions, performances and experiments, but also for encounters, interaction and exchange. Thus, an accompanying programme to the exhibition is planned. In addition, the exhibition space will change continuously during its run: as a nucleus of creative output, it will grow and sprout organically, extending beyond the public space to the campus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
