summaery2024: What Visitors to Campus Can Expect
Knocking, sawing, hammering: The final preparations for summaery2024 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are underway. Starting on Thursday afternoon, the campus will be transformed into an exhibition and festival area where encounters and exchanges can take place. From 11 to 14 July, students will be presenting their ideas for the future, showcasing the results of the academic year and inviting visitors to explore and discuss. Which highlights are happening and when – here’s a peek at what you simply cannot miss.
The Opening Event kicks off on Thursday, 11 July at 4 pm with the Presidium and the Deans in front of the Main Building, followed by a champagne reception. Afterwards, there will be music and beverages at various campus locations around the Main Building, as well as the opportunity for a first glimpse into the exhibitions. Starting at 5 pm, the Picnic@atelier will begin with a spherical sound installation by SHARCC at the Bauhaus.Atelier. At 5.30, a family-friendly get-together with chalk painting and interaction opportunities for young and old.
The Telebuddies, a classical quartet from the University of Music FRANZ LISZT, will be performing pieces by Telemann on live on stage in front of the M18 Student Office starting at 6 pm. At 7.15 pm, the indie band FLUKES will be playing, inviting listeners to unwind with their dreamy sounds. The Weimar salsa band »Guay« will be playing at the M18 at 8.30 pm.
The outdoor area behind the Main Building at the Bauhaus.Atelier will transform into a DJ stage at 9 pm, offering a cross-genre DJ set by Katscha and combining disco, house and outernational sounds. Starting at 10.30 pm, Atfrava will take over with a hybrid Afrobeat set that guarantees a fantastic atmosphere and will have you dancing until midnight.
Experiments, Open Labs, Guided Tours
On Friday, 12 July, the Science Mile Q3 will take over Coudraystraße with »hands-on science«. The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering will open its doors and labs starting at 1 pm and invites visitors of all ages to a lively festival on the closed-off street until 6 pm. In the evening, from 5 to 10 pm, there will be plenty to discover as the Faculty of Media hosts their Open Lab Night at Schwanseestraße 143. Visitors can tour the open labs and explore digital projects at the »Bytes, Bier und Bratwürste« event. On Friday and Saturday, a shuttle bus service will be available for visitors departing every half hour from the Bauhausstraße/Geschwister-Scholl-Straße stop. There are stops at Schwanseestraße, Coudraystraße and the Atrium.
Alumni, Film and Book Fans Get Their Money’s Worth
On Saturday, 13 July, the university invites its former students to the annual Alumni Reunion at the Bauhaus.Atelier. The event is a valuable opportunity to network and meet up with fellow students and professors. That same evening at 9.30 pm, film enthusiasts can meet at Theaterplatz for the SUMMER REEL. This outdoor film evening will feature a selection of short films, animations and audio-visual projects produced by students in the Faculty of Art and Design. On Sunday 14 July, the student-run Lucia Verlag publishing house will be celebrating its tenth anniversary. The party kicks off at 5 pm in Club Mascha in Schützengasse 2.
The Complete Programme: As a Printed Pamphlet to Take Home or Online
This year’s theme, »PLAN B«, focusses on sustainable and forward-thinking projects that offer solutions to ecological and social challenges. Over 160 projects and works by students at summaery2024 showcase innovative approaches in fields such as architecture, engineering, design, media, IT and art.

A printed version of the programme is available at all central locations, including the Main Building, the Bauhaus.Atelier and the University Library. Two students will be available for tips and questions at the INFO stand in the foyer of the Main Building during the opening hours of summaery2024.
