Bauhaus Summer School 2022 – The World in Weimar
From 20 August to 3 September 2022, 120 participants from almost 50 countries will once again come together on the campus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar after a lengthy hiatus for the Bauhaus Summer School.
Six specialised courses and two language courses will be offered this year. Over a two-week period, those interested in the subjects of architecture and urbanism, art and design, culture and media, engineering and the environment, and languages will be presented with subject-specific challenges.
Participants in the courses will address subjects such as a »(Post) Covid City« or embark on an extraordinary artistic journey into the green heart of Germany by train during the »Railway Stories« course. The »Coloured Glaze for Architectural Ceramics« undoubtedly counts among the most experimental courses. The art of creating glazes lost in the course of industrialisation offers countless exciting methods and approaches that participants can explore through experimentation.
Some of the courses will begin sooner than 20 August with an online phase before the trip to Weimar. This will allow students to already get a feel for what it’s like to study in Weimar while still at home. From 20 August, they’ll meet the students in person who they’ve already been interacting with online.
Never a dull moment thanks to a varied programme of additional activities
On the weekends and in the afternoons, the international participants are able to explore the glorious nature of central Germany and the major cities in the local area. A bratwurst tasting session and relaxing yoga in the Park an der Ilm also feature on the programme. Thanks to a cooperation with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, the town’s museums and castles can once again be visited for free in this year. In addition to the courses, the varied programme of activities is one of the reasons why international participants always love coming to Weimar.
The students will stay in Weimar until 3 September, whereby the summer school highlight awaits shortly before their departure, namely the final presentation of all of the courses with the motto of »Open.Ateliers«. This will take place from 3 pm on 2 September 2022 in the Main Building.
