Bauhaus-Universität Weimar successfully completes »Shaping Diversity« audit
Together with eight other universities from Thuringia, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has successfully completed the two-year procedure for fostering diversity and been awarded certification for the coming three years.
On 9 May 2023, Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes and Dr. Miriam Benteler received the certificate from Andrea Frank, Deputy Secretary General of the Stifterverband, during a ceremony in Berlin.
The certificate attests that the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar sees the diversity of its students and employees as an opportunity and has found ways to tap into this potential.
Various measures were developed as part of the audit and implemented at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. These include the installation of toilets for all genders, establishment of a diversity fund, implementation of measures for structural and digital accessibility, and deployment of diversity guides, who enable easy access to peer-to-peer counselling in case of discrimination.
One significant outcome of the audit is the University’s Diversity Strategy that was adopted by the Senate on 1 February 2023. It sets the direction for diversity work at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in the next six years. The strategy is available on the Diversity webpage in German and English as an accessible PDF.
Special thanks go to all of the university members, who have accompanied and supported the auditing process with dedication during the university-wide workshops and working groups on various topics.
