Pandemic Regulations in University Buildings and on Campus
The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will reopen its buildings for in-person teaching and research events in the upcoming 2020/2021 winter semester. In order for studying, research and work to be safely and efficiently carried out, we want to provide the best possible protection against infection on campus and in university buildings. It is up to each and every one of us to work together to make sure this happens. Be sure to carefully read and follow the regulations*.
By working together, we can achieve an in-person semester despite the pandemic!
- Only enter university buildings if absolutely necessary, i.e. for courses, research, administrative tasks, etc. Avoid congregating in groups in the corridors and find your seat quickly.
- Signs and notices have been posted throughout the buildings - be sure to pay attention to these when entering university buildings.
- Everyone must wear a mask covering the nose and mouth when moving between rooms, i.e. in washrooms, waiting areas, corridors or hallways, foyers, etc. Once you have reached your workspace, you may remove your mask.
- You must register prior to attending any classes, either electronically, by Thoska, or in writing. This is necessary for contact tracing in case of infection.
- Hand disinfectant is available at the entrance of every room. Be sure to disinfect your hands before taking your seat.
- Each room has a designated seating plan which conforms to the necessary minimum physical distancing regulations. Be sure to only use the designated seats. The seating plan may not be changed under any circumstances.
- Rooms must be regularly and properly aired out to avoid the accumulation of airborne particles. The best way to do this is through cross-ventilation, where the room is aired out for a few minutes via doors and windows open on both sides of the room. Rooms must be aired out every 20 minutes for 3-5 minutes (every 60 minutes in offices). To make this easier, some rooms have been equipped with CO2 meters which signal when ventilation is necessary. Other rooms have been equipped with ventilation systems (Raumlufttechnische Anlage) that provide fresh air. In rooms with these systems, windows must remain closed or the system will shut off.
- Your own actions also help prevent the spread of infection: Be sure to stay 1.5 metres away from others at all times, including in the outdoor areas of the university, when entering or leaving buildings, on stairways, in washrooms, etc.
- Avoid physical contact with others, including hugging or shaking hands.
- Celebrations, parties, and other social events are not permitted on campus while pandemic regulations are in effect. Be aware that the risk of infection is highest during private events.
Thank you for your cooperation - protect yourself and others and make others aware of the regulations!
*The current Bauhaus-Universität Weimar basic hygiene plan, which outlines the hygienic use of outdoor areas, university buildings and rooms, must be observed when using university buildings. The complete version can be found here: www.uni-weimar.de/pandemic-hygiene-plan
