»The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Is, and Will Continue to Be, an Open-Minded Place«: We Are Part of the »Weltoffenes Thüringen« Initiative
The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar supports an open-minded and diverse Thuringia. We call on all university members to support the »Weltoffenes Thüringen« Initiative.
Thuringia has just entered an important year for democracy: Multiple elections will be held in 2024. Election results will determine political structures and strategies for the upcoming years in Thuringia, Germany and Europe.
Most of Thuringia’s citizens want to live in an open-minded, pluralistic and democratic state. However, recent survey results have many people concerned about the direction state politics could take.
The »Weltoffenes Thüringen« initiative was created to represent this majority – over 2,200 individuals, businesses, sports associations, charities, cultural and educational institutions are already involved:

We, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, have also joined the initiative and want to send a clear message in support of open-mindedness, democracy, pluralism and diversity.
»We welcome everyone who comes here. We reject all forms of exclusion, discrimination and attempts to turn those from different backgrounds, beliefs and preferences against one another, as this undermines our fundamental values. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is, and will continue to be, an open-minded place. We are committed to this identity and look forward to the future with courage, curiosity and confidence«, stresses University President Prof. Peter Benz.
We call on you to join us in supporting the »Weltoffenes Thüringen« initiative with your signature: www.thueringen-weltoffen.de/#zeichnen
