Reading of Judith Schalansky

Judith Schalansky © Jürgen Bauer/Suhrkamp Verlag

Judith Schalansky talks about her book Verzeichnis einiger Verluste, published in October, which won the Wilhelm Raabe-Literaturpreis 2018 and, just like Der Hals der Giraffe (The Neck of the Giraffe), became press and audience favourite.

Verzeichnis einiger Verluste deals equally with »searching and finding, losing and winning, and shows that the difference between presence and absence may be marginal as long as memories exist - and that literature makes it possible to experience how close preservation and destruction, loss and creation are to one another.« (published by Suhrkamp Verlag, 2018)

The reading will be opened by Prof. Dr. Winfried Speitkamp (President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar) and will be moderated by Dr. Harun Maye (IKKM).

  • Time: 8 p.m.
  • Length: 90 min.
  • Place: Audimax

The books of Judith Schalansky are presented in the showcase next to the lending desk. All books can be loaned.

  • Idea and presentation: Christiane Tampe, Katrin Richter, Library of the university
  • Time: 8 p.m.–00.00 a.m.
  • Place: Ebene 0, gegenüber der Ausleihtheke

You can also buy her books with an individual dedication at the book table of the Eckermann-Buchhandlung GmbH & Co.KG after the reading.
