Contribute new ideas, draw inspiration, and gather inspirations. Provide space for exchange and reflection. Come together to discuss and build contacts on the topics of studies and teaching.
Tag der Lehre is a platform for discourse, insights and experiments relating to studies and teaching at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. All students, doctoral candidates, teachers and members of staff at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are cordially invited to play an active role and help design the programme. This year it will focus on evaluating and reflecting on the further development of the Bauhaus.Semester, as well as on ideas and concepts for new teaching and study Formats.
TUTORIUM TRAGWERKSLEHRE (structural design tutorial)
Dirk Slawinsky
The teaching award of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism has not been awarded to a professor or member of staff but rather to a student tutorial. Tutorial participants particularly praised the tutor’s voluntary commitment and the clear explanations of complex topics. Despite the time demands, the tutorial was »pleasantly effective«. The nomination observes: »When a room is packed with students, even on a Saturday afternoon, this should be reason enough to win a teaching award.« And so it did! Dirk Slawinsky accepted the teaching award for the student tutorial on structural design.
All GEOTECHNICS Courses
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Torsten Wichtmann
The winner impressed students with up-to-date research and extensive content, complemented with extremely detailed scripts. The attention to international participants, students and doctoral students as well as beyond the university was praised highly. The students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering really miss you and wish you continued success. By way of farewell and as a sign of gratitude, the teaching award goes to all courses in the field of geotechnics and thus to Professor Wichtmann.
DESIGN THEORY II (academic module)
Jun.-Prof. Dr. Jan Sebastian Willmann
»He was always well prepared, highly committed and took a lot of time for the seminar. He even assisted with and responded to questions outside working hours.« Students praised the constant striving for improvement, both in terms of the content and technology, as well as the consideration of students’ wishes and commitment to discussions. »He is also always helpful and entirely committed to assisting with other requests. At the end of the semester he tries to enable everyone to meet and exchange ideas, and to create a strong bond between students and teachers.« The teaching award goes to Professor Jan Willmann.
MODERN SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES (seminar)
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Norbert Siegmund and Jonas Hecht
The format is rather unusual for our degree programme, as seminars are offered only rarely. Students teamed up in pairs during the seminar – a common practice today for modern software developments in the industry. Presentations and demonstrations on relevant topics were prepared and presented to fellow students. The online form developed during this seminar for the Weimar holiday pass (Ferienpass Weimar) database which will enable digital registration in the future is especially noteworthy. The teaching award goes to Dr. Norbert Sigmund and Jonas Hecht.
THE RUBBISH PROJECT: MATERIAL MANIFESTATIONS and DRAWING COURSE – EXERCISES IN PERCEPTION
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eckhard Kraft and Prof. Elizabeth Bachhuber
Rumour has it that fine art and environmental engineering have little in common in the real world. There are different fields and they employ different approaches – and here at the university, also different faculties. But where if not at the Bauhaus-Universität can such unusual combinations be facilitated? Not only seminars and exercises, but also a fascinating field trip to Barcelona ensured a lively exchange between students from both disciplines. The course included a joint drawing course during which all students could explore their previously undiscovered artistic talents. The special award for the most compelling combination of activities and thus for the best interdisciplinary course goes to Prof. Elizabeth Bachhuber and Dr.-Ing. Eckhard Kraft.
