The event will be held in German
In this event we will focus on the topic "Open Source", divided into two sections. In the first part, we will approach the meaning of Open Source Software from a general perspective in order to develop a basic understanding of the phenomenon and its features. For this purpose, we will touch on the technical background of Open Source Software and the organizational structures for its programming. Furthermore, we will clarify legal questions regarding its use. The first part will conclude with an examination of the potential that open source software offers, especially for a digital semester. In the second part, we will deal with the practical use of open source software and compile a list of open source programs that are particularly relevant for the subjects at the Bauhaus-Universität. The goal of the course is that the participants will be able to get an overview of which open source programs are suitable for their respective requirements and how to efficiently deal with problems that arise during use.
