Project description
In Germany nobody ever talks about it – in this project we will talk about nothing else: money.
For a chill start, we asked students to redesign our current Euro banknotes questioning imagery, material and safety. Secondly, we looked on capitalism from an optimistic perspective: Maybe it could work better for more people, of we explain complex financial terms such as deflation, retention or bull market in an understandable way using information graphics and interactive installations e.g.?
For the second half of the semester, the students had to define their own critical position towards money: Who is earning how much and why? How precarious is the financial situation of students in Germany? Would the world be better off without money and hired labour? Would an unconditional basic income change society for the better? How can we communicate such radical ideas and get people to enthuse about them? These were the questions our students asked themselves and used for design solutions and suggestions. Our project was supported by Bedingungsloses Grundeinkommen e. V. and activist Tobi Rosswog.
Our exhibition contains posters, animations, installations, performances, information graphics, audio experiences, editorials and objects.
