Project description
What might the Mensa am Park as well have looked like after its renovation? Would the food counter then lead to less congestion, would the lobby look more inviting, or would the restroom be easier to find? Sixteen international students asked themselves these and other questions and developed proposals for such an "alternative reality". The focus was on optimizing the building for its users. To test the success of the proposed measures, the students conducted computer-based analyses and virtual reality-based user studies. For example, they simulated how much daylight can enter the lobby through new ceiling openings, how visible rooms are from certain decision points, and how distances between locations can be minimized. In addition, the students visited each other's designs in virtual reality and evaluated them with regard to their user experience.
