The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is an internationally established university with 160 years of history that is rooted in the Bauhaus tradition and unites art and design, science and technology. This approach characterises the faculties of Architecture and Urbanism, Civil Engineering, Art and Design, and Media. In addition to their disciplinary functions, the faculties are also strongly committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and to the interpermeation between art, science and practice.

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate their experience and the research specialisations they hope to establish, including how these topics can be integrated into the profiles of the Faculty and the university (including the Institute for European Urban Studies at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism). The successful candidate must be able to carry out quality, internationally competitive research in their field of expertise. Successfully generating third-party funding in general and practice-oriented research is expected, as is the willingness to work in interdisciplinary research groups in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, as well as in networks and with external research institutions. Interdisciplinary research experience and research with research partners is an advantage.
Candidates must provide documentation of having received appropriate funding for previous academic research and teaching; a connection to engineering (e. g. a degree in industrial engineering or related research and teaching experience) are desirable.
These general requirements pertain to § 84 of the Thüringer Hochschulgesetz (ThürHG). Please note that appointment to the first professorship is generally for a fixed term.
