W3 professorship position beginning on 1 October 2026.

The professorship is in the F. A. Finger-Institute for Building Material Engineering. We are seeking a nationally and internationally recognised individual to represent inorganic and organic chemistry in research and teaching within the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Candidates must have completed a university degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related subject, or have specialist experience in the field. Scientific expertise relevant to the advertised position and a proven ability to conduct research are demonstrated through a qualified doctoral degree related to the position in addition to other scientific achievements.
The successful candidate is expected to impart and expand upon fundamental chemical knowledge and advanced material-specific knowledge for civil and environmental engineers in the corresponding Bachelor's and Master's programmes in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. They are also expected to actively contribute to research in the fields of »Material and Construction« and »Sustainability and Resources«. Independent and interdisciplinary research efforts must contribute to fundamental insights into kinetics, thermodynamics, modelling, and simulation of materials and environmental chemical processes. The successful candidate is expected to manage assigned labs, including equipment support and methodological development.
Applicants must possess excellent professional qualifications and experience in basic research, as well as securing and managing third-party funded projects.
Outstanding didactic skills and teaching experience are required to teach in the institution. participation in university administration, and the development of subject-specific an Personal commitment to the qualification of young researchers, participation in university administration, and the ability to teach in English are required. Proficiency in German, both written and spoken, is a fundamental requirement for the position. Strong leadership skills are also required for this position.
