Dear Alumni,
Thuringian universities are planning to return in large part to in-person teaching in the 2022 summer semester. Thia was decided by the Landespräsidentenkonferenz and the Thuringian Wissenschaftsministerium in February. However, the new digital teaching formats will remain a permanent fixture at the universities. The Thuringian Wissenschaftsministerium is providing nearly 32.5 million euros in funding specifically for digitisation at the universities until 2025.
In the first 2022 issue of contact.bauhaus, you can read the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s statement on solidarity with Ukraine. Other topics include the latest developments with the New European Bauhaus, as well as the appointment of former University President as State Secretary in the Ministry of Education. The university’s latest research projects reflect its engagement with current social issues, such as the million-euro »SCIP Plastics« joint project with Bangladesh, the »smood« joint project or innovative solutions for the energy efficient modernisation of existing residential areas and the water resistant plaster binder. A large number of honours and prizes were awarded for scientific achievements. Staff changes also shaped university life.
With warmest greetings,
Your Silvia Riedel
