By Train
Weimar’s train station is approximately 2 km north of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. To get to campus, you can either take a 30-minute walk through the historic part of town or simply get on the bus line 1 toward Belvedere/Ehringsdorf/Taubach. Within ten minutes, you will reach the stop »Bauhaus-Universität« at Marienstraße next to the Mensa am Park (student dining hall).

Many long-distance buses stop at the Weimar bus station (August-Fröhlich-Platz, 99423 Weimar) located near the city centre.
By Car
The culturally rich, university town of Weimar is just a ten minute drive off the A4.

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is very close to the city centre and you can find paid parking spaces in the streets around the university buildings. We recommend the Tiefgarage am Goethehaus underground car park, located at Beethovenplatz 1/2, 99423 Weimar for your visit. From there you can reach the universitys Main Building on foot in less than 5 minutes. A list of additional parking spaces can be found on the city of Weimar’s website. »» Parking

Guided and Individual Tours
1. Bauhaus Walk
Take a Walk with Bauhaus-Universität Weimar students, follow in the footsteps of the early Bauhaus through the historic sites and experience the past and present of the university. 2. AudioWalk app »Where is Walter?«
The Audio Walk was developed by students of the university in 2019 and takes you to the most important Bauhaus locations on the university campus in a track lasting just under one hour. There are also six shorter tracks to other places in the city where Gropius and Company. left their mark. All locations can be reached on foot or by public transport. The app is available free of charge in the app stores for IOS and Android devices.

3. Map for Guests
A printed map — which includes tips for your visit, pictures and descriptions of the artwork in the Main Building and the Van-de-Velde Building — is available for free in German and English at the Bauhaus.Atelier | Info Shop Café.
Tour Groups and City Tours
Register in advance!
As a World Heritage Site and faculty building, the Main Building and the Van de Velde Building are used intensively. Please understand that access is limited and register your tour group or city tour with us in advance at bauhausspaziergang@uni-weimar.de.

As a university, we are particularly pleased to welcome groups of pupils and students. Depending on your interests, you have the opportunity to join our Bauhaus.Botschafter on a free campus tour of the laboratories, workshops and studios and learning about the university's current study conditions and offerings or you can follow the Bauhaus Walk guides in the footsteps of the historic Bauhaus through UNESCO World Heritage buildings. Two cafés are waiting for you on the university campus and the Mensa am Park is also nearby.

Bauhaus.Atelier | Info Shop Café
In the visitor centre you can learn about our university and its history or buy souvenirs. The adjoining café offers freshly brewed coffee and various cold drinks. Take a seat in the building or, weather permitting, in the courtyard by the Main Building and take in the atmosphere.
Café s140
The café is run by a student initiative and is located in the Haus der Studierenden M18, Marienstraße 18 with an exit out to the campus in front of the Main Building. The s140 is a place to meet and guests are always welcome here.
Mensa am Park
The dining hall operated by the Studierendenwerk Thüringen is only a two-minute walk from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and is located directly at the Park on the Ilm. Guests of the university may eat here, but payment can currently only be made using a Thuringian university and student service card (thoska) or EC-Card.
Toilets
The toilets in the university buildings are open to the university community. You will find the following public toilets near the university:
- Amalienstraße, Posseckscher Garten - stainless steel WC (2x wheelchai-accessible parking).
- Frauentorstraße / Frauenplan - stainless steel WC and Eurolocks (1x wheelchai-accessible parking space)
- Steubenstraße 6 - (4x wheelchai-accessible parking) University Library: basement to lift / lift entrance door 100 cm wide and automatic door closer, open Monday to Friday 9 am to2 pm / Sat 10 am to 4 pm, closed Sunday
