The photos of the series »Paare« [Pairs] were taken at various locations along the autobahn. What we see are the countless reflections of headlights emitted from passing cars at night.
»When I stand on the overpass of the autobahn at night, I can feel the rushing speed of the vehicles passing below me. The headlights blind my eyes. Everything rushes past, it’s just a few seconds. The roaring noise of condensed motors, produced day and night by the autobahn. I’m completely surrounded by this sound while I’m taking photos. No other noises could reach me. In the distance I can make out the lights of a small village; it seems so still, everything at rest. It feels as if I were standing in a bubble. I tap into this ›all-encompassing‹ feel of noise and work it into my photographs. It is a feeling which is at once oppressive and yet attractive.«
