The grumpy farmer Schmidt (Hendrik Arnst) has a problem. The doctor he’s gone to for years (Harry Täschner) is retiring. His replacement is none other than the Polish immigrant (Klaudiusz Kaufmann) – in the heart of small-town Germany. Schmidt doesn’t trust the Pole and does everything possible to avoid running into the enthusiastic young doctor. Unfortunately, Schmidt’s health gradually worsens until he can no longer avoid treatment.
Clemens Beier studied Media Art at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He earned his degree with honours with the short film »Schmidt – A Tale of Small-Town Germany« along with his book »Das AB-D des Studentenfilms – Ein Lexikon mit Lücken« [The AB-Ds of Student Film – A Dictionary with Gaps]. Upon completion of the Professional Media Master Class in Halle / Saale, Clemens Beier began advanced studies in filmmaking at Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf in 2014.
