Nineteen girls on their way to the Junior Synchronised Ice-Skating Championships. Over the past seven months, they’ve all trained hard for this important event. The film accompanies the athletes, ages 12 to 16, to their training and prep sessions, in the bus, at the youth hostel and finally in the ice arena. Viewers embark on a journey into the world of teenage girls, a world of false lashes, intense concentration and stuffed animals – a behind-the-scenes depiction of this highly aesthetic but little known sport.
The 74-minute documentary film »Eismädchen« [Ice Girls] is the Master’s project of Katharina Knust. Her most recent works are documentary and fictional pieces, which examine teenage culture and the transition from childhood to adulthood.
