Photography and installation | 2013
Funded by the Equal Opportunity Doctoral Completion Scholarship Programme
The »Plazas« project is a collection of photographic-sculptural works created between 2011 and 2013. The works explore the themes of space, sculpture and installation in the context of photographs. The starting points are aesthetic forms of spatiality and questions of positioning. Specific places – in this case public plazas with historical connotations in the urban area of Berlin – are examples of interrogation. Photographs, findings from the internet, computer-script-based, semi-acoustic, sequential »space-time lines«, stereoscopic images – emanating from an urban-planning structure – as well as objects and texts are gathered into collections and archives and combined with one another.
The historic connection reaches back to the 18th century and is a jumping-off point for the question of how these superimposed layers can be made tangible in their diagrammatic and temporal structure. More over, the project is about the connection and linkage of temporal-historic and image-spatial contexts, as well as expanded concepts.
