Theatre Academy “Teatro Stabile di Torino”
My thesis explores the stage design for “Avesta”, a theatre play which was performed in Italy. The project was developed by students from the “Teatro Stabile di Torino” and by young freelancers from different technical disciplines. Together, we compose the “Compagnia Effetto Pullman”, an under 30 theatre company. The purpose of the research is to explore the best way of applying media to performative spaces and to define the limits of a reasonable use of projections on stage. The study focuses on using the integration of different disciplines as a work method. The stage design wasn’t just physical, but virtual. I had the chance and the responsibility to organise the stage design from the concept to the construction. My role as scenographer concerned aspects like construction, manufacturing methods, cost constraints, so as the selection of technical figures, such as light designers, product designers, video experts, graphic designers, and illustrators. Together with the director, Giulia Odetto, I was in charge of the executive production. In order to understand our target and market, I integrated a social research. It helped to shape my master thesis and draw its conclusions. This completed my well-rounded experience. This project was essential to test the skills acquired during my Master in MediaArchitecture at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, and a further opportunity to develop my knowledge in the fields of product design, light design, and video mapping techniques.
