“Interactive pixels” is an interactive light installation illuminating the narrow streets around Marktplatz, Jena, Germany. Co-presence of visitors triggers the generative light patterns above and a social interaction has been begun among occupants by shared encounters. The light is the mediator between people and the built environment through real-time visualization of urban movement at a particular place as a light patterns which illuminate the very same place.
The project lasted two semesters (WS 2014-2016 / SS 2015). First phase of the project, when the concept idea 'interactive light patterns' had occured, was developed through a collaboration with Afroditi Manari and Isil Onursal. Second phase of the project, when architectural design, structural details and prototype of 'interactive light patterns' including coding and building up electronical circuit was developed, was held individually by Iremnur Tokac.
