Semester project
The aim of the project is to develop a conceptual idea related to media facades elements in the city of Jena known also as city of light. This title is synonymous for everything Jena radiates beyond its city limits: Science, knowledge, light. Light is being used as a tool but also as an object for research, therefore it is an important and integral part in the process of design and visualization. As a place to locate my idea I chose the court of Ernst Abbe to guide a story through a game in an urban space. Some of these elements have existed before and we can see them because they are already present. The surface of the court of Ernst Abbe consists of a single base with natural stone paving, which is defined through pavement pattern. They remind us of broken glass, which is closely linked with the story of Carl Zeiss glass production. The court acts as a completion of an urban space sequence and together with Markt Platz and Holzmarkt it serves as the center of life in Jena and at the same time acts as an independent space.
