»sehenswürdig« (worth seeing) is an innovative mobile application for tourists. It provides a novel, intuitive access to all major and not so major attractions. Instead of scrolling through lengthy lists, users just point with their iPhone at the places that interest them. An innovative gesture control helps the user to keep track of everything.
The application is primarily aimed at tourists who want to explore a city on their own and don't want to follow a prescribed route. To allow a smooth transition from pointing at attractions to conventional operator interactions, the »sehenswürdig« app supports motion gestures for navigation and the selection of the different levels of architectural information. All gestures used were examined in accordance with usability guidelines for their intuitiveness and evaluated with users in order to guarantee ease of learning and a sufficient guarantee against errors.
»sehenswürdig« continuously updates the geographical position of the user and, for example, displays the distance and direction of the previous locations. So you can always find out what you have just encountered, or what other interesting places are still around.
