We dealt with the emerging technology of sensors for the structural health monitoring of structures (SHM). In particular, the different facets of the department were illuminated through the active participation of international students.
The task of the "Structural Health Monitoring" project was to design, implement and test a sensor system using a practical example. Technology is increasingly being used for building monitoring and it allows a continuous control of the structure. Readings are collected over a certain period of time and automatically analysed by the system.
Solution:
We developed a method, that offered effective, safe storage, transfer and the analysis of vibration data to be carried out and one that tested the practical capabilities through numerous experiments. The results of this work provide a broad basis for further projects in this area.
