Project description

How can passengers feel comfortable in autonomous vehicles?

Concept artists often forecast luxurious interior design with social seating positions and promise that the newly won free time can be used for leisure and work. My work suggests that without the appropriate feedback passively driving in autonomous vehicles is not much more enjoyable as driving yourself. And if humans feel the need to monitor the vehicle with a graphical user interface why drive autonomously in the first place?

At the Summaery I showcase a miniature model that was used to develop Light Feedback for autonomous vehicles. Light displays might be a solution for feedback that is less annoying than sound and less attention claiming than graphical user interfaces.
