On Thursday 11 April, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will launch its 2024 focal point »Demokratie stärken«. All university members are warmly invited to have a look at current projects, exchange ideas and help generate new ideas at the Bauhaus.Atelier from 3 to 5 pm.
For the past few months, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar members have been working on developing ideas on how they can use their knowledge and skills to increase trust in democracy and science in a liberal, democratic and constitutional state. This has resulted in exciting projects and a network of individuals who are interested in and committed to the topic.
The kick-off networking meeting at the start of the summer semester on 11 April 2024 will act as a platform for sharing experiences and establishing relationships by presenting projects and actively supporting people in getting to know one another. Anyone interested in this topic in encouraged to join, including cooperation partners.
»In addition to implementing projects based on this topic, my goal is to firmly establish the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s commitment to strengthening democracy and accepting science«, explains Dr. Ulrike Kuch, Vice President for Social Transformation at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. She announced this focal point at the beginning of the year to highlight the role the university has in society, especially in Weimar and Thuringia.
The Presidium is supporting projects through a call for a special Bauhaus.Module and through the »Demokratie stärken« fund, which was set us specifically for this purpose.
Further information on the thematic focus can be found at www.uni-weimar.de/demokratie. The website also features the ongoing activities of university members and other partners, including the »Weltoffenes Thüringen« initiative.
