In order to support projects that are dedicated to strengthening democracy, the Presidential Board has established two funding channels: The first format funds teaching projects through a special Bauhaus.Module call for proposals. The second is the »Demokratie stärken« (strengthening democracy) Fund, which is available for all project formats. The fund is intended to support projects that are actively committed to democratic values and strengthening social cohesion. Their impact should extend beyond campus. A broad range of formats means a broad range of projects: From multi-perspective photography projects involving youth in Weimar North to researching local elections and generating AI utopias with people living in rural areas.
The sheer number of projects that have applied for funding highlights the commitment of staff and the close connection between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the region. It also illustrates the relevance of science and art in important social issues. Thank you to everyone involved!
Keeping the theme of strengthening democracy in mind, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is aiming to improve trust in democracy, science, art and educational institutions in Thuringia. The university considers this to be part of its legal responsibilities and is therefore using the eponymous fund to support Bauhaus-Universität Weimar projects in the region that aim to strengthen democracy, cooperate with external partners, and make this work publicly visible.
Funding is available to implement university projects that work towards strengthening democracy together with regional partners and communicating with the regional community. Projects should be implemented between April 2025 and March 2026. Applications will be accepted from all areas of the university.
