Jakob Horstmann is a freelance commissioning editor, agent, and business consultant in academic publishing. Before establishing himself in London, where he has lived and worked for the past decade, he worked as a journalist and editor in Eastern Europe and Germany. He acquired his degrees studying in Berlin, Paris, and London.

My focus is the support of German language authors and publishers who aim to establish themselves in the Anglo-American market. The workshops cover all relevant aspects of the publishing process, from grammar and style of individual submissions to the best publication strategies.

The participants will gain a fuller understanding of the idiosyncrasies of the Anglo-American sphere of academic publishing vis-a-vis other, foreign language markets. Focusing on the practicalities of successfully placing a submission with an English language press, they will learn how to respond to the significant differences between the Anglo-American publishing culture and their own.
