Digital Engineering at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is a research field which focuses on the application of the most modern technology in design-oriented simulation processes in engineering. It would be impossible to imagine many engineering disciplines nowadays without the aid of computer science. Some examples of IT applications include the simulation of environments for designing and analysing engineered structures, the simulation of processes at virtual construction sites, coordination of tasks by various engineering teams, partially automated model building and model combination (expert critiquing) and intelligent mining and retrieval of simulation and sensor data. In this department, researchers in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics collaborate together, each bringing their specific strengths into the process.
