The research focus of “Planning.Constructing.Heritage” is on the sustainable development of architecture, cities, and landscapes. It connects research projects from architecture, historical research, and urban research with planning and engineering sciences that investigate spaces, cities, and architecture within evolving social conditions that come with their own challenges and prerequisites. Based on current pressing questions, for instance the significance of cultural heritage in a globalized world, socially equitable housing, or resource-conserving construction methods, this research aims to explain the complex processes which shape our cities and environments--from the implementation and handling of the “inherited” to making the meaning of architecture, cities, and landscape readable. In this sense, the research also sets the stage for sustainable design in architecture, cities, and landscapes.
