Media information of the Studierendenwerk Thüringen: Heating allowance on November 4 on the account of students in Thuringia
Students in Thuringia who have received benefits under BAföG for at least one month from October 2021 to March 2022 and whose BAföG notice states that they no longer lived with their parents will be paid the heating allowance of 230 euros on November 4, 2022. The legislator has defined the criteria and thus pursues the objective of paying the heating allowance to students who have incurred heating costs themselves.
Students receive the money automatically, no application is necessary. The allowance is transferred to the student's account to which the BAföG is also paid to them.
The heating allowance is also available to students who received housing allowance during the designated period. »We are pleased that the conditions have now been created in Thuringia and that the federal subsidy can be paid out,« says Torsten Schubert, managing director of Studierendenwerk Thüringen. The payment is made through the main treasury of the Free State of Thuringia.
The heating allowance is not counted as income toward BAföG or other social benefits. The allowance is available to all eligible persons once - so anyone who, for example, was entitled to housing allowance and BAföG or has changed federal states in the meantime will not receive the allowance twice.
The heating allowance is part of the first federal relief package. A second heating allowance of 345 euros was approved by the federal cabinet in the third relief package. This is expected to be paid at the end of 2022/beginning of 2023 to students who were entitled to a housing allowance or BAföG for at least one month between September and December 2022 and were no longer living in their parents' home.
