From Monday, 16 June, to Sunday, 21 June 2024, the fourth »Campus Pride Week« will take place at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on the occasion of the »Dyke* March Weimar« (Saturday, 14 June). For one week, sexual and gender diversity will be celebrated on campus and queer history, art and culture will take centre stage. The diverse program invites all members and affiliates of the university to engage with the complex realities of queer people's lives, and offers members of the queer communities various opportunities to exchange ideas and network.
This year's »Campus Pride Week« is organized by the Equal Opportunity Office, the Diversity Department, the StuKo Departments »QueerYMR« and »Bauhaus.Internationals«, the student initiatives »Maschinenraum«, »Kollektiv Raumstation« and »Café s140«, the experimental radio »Bauhaus.FM«, the courses »Queering Spaces« and »Objectophilia«, and the Professorship History, Theory and Aesthetics of Material Cultures, in cooperation with the Dyke March* Weimar, the CSD Weimar, TIAM — Trans-Inter-Aktiv in Mitteldeutschland e.V., the AIDS-Hilfe Weimar & Ostthüringen e.V. and the initiative »Künstler Buddies mal treffen«.
On the occasion of »Campus Pride Week« a banner with the »Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag« will be hoisted on the central balcony of the Main Building again. The banner will hang there during the entire theme week and send a visible signal for diversity and acceptance:
Prof. Peter Benz, President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, explains: »We are delighted that the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag is now flying over the university campus for Campus Pride Week for the fourth time. With this gesture, we want to demonstrate that we are committed to diversity and the rights of queer people and are firmly opposed to any discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. We are continuously working to break down existing barriers, especially for trans/inter/non-binary (TIN*) people in everyday university life, and to sensitise people to their concerns.«
For »Campus Pride Week«, there will once again be a varied programme for students, doctoral candidates and employees on queer topics, to which we cordially invite all university members!

Language: English-Spanish original version with German subtitles
Content:
»On a summer's day in New York, everything seems to happen at once for the young trans Latino Feña: Papa Pablo comes to visit from Chile and suddenly seeks contact, his heterosexual ex-boyfriend John gets in touch again after months of radio silence and then his 13-year-old half-sister Zoe turns up on the doorstep. But since Feña's transition, the dynamics with all three have changed. He asks himself how much closeness with the people from his old life feels right.
In his debut film, Vuk Lungulov-Klotz portrays 24 hours in the life of a young trans man in an authentic and captivating way. Lío Mehiel, himself non-binary and with roots in Puerto Rico and Greece, embodies Feña's multi-layered in-betweenness in a multi-faceted and expressive way — and was honoured with the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance for his performance. Hardly any film before ›Mutt‹ has shown the complexity of everyday life as a trans person so truthfully.« (Translation of announcement text by Salzgeber & Co. Medien GmbH)

As part of the course »Queering Spaces« (Instructor: Carsten Saeger), a queer ephemeral archive will be created in the University Library of Weimar for Campus Pride Week and summaery2025.
An open call invites (artistic) contributions in the form of ephemeral materialities that make queer knowledge and personal experiences visible within the library. The works will be displayed in transparent acrylic boxes, entering into direct dialogue with the library’s holdings as forms of »lived experience«. Inspired by José Esteban Muñoz’s concept of »Ephemera as Evidence«, the works are intended to invite participants to »cruise« the holdings, moving beyond fixed categories and linear orders.
The opening of the queer ephemeral archive will take place as a guided performance.
Everyone is cordially invited to attend!

Language: Original language version (Turkish / Georgian / English) with English subtitles.
Synopsis:
»Lia, a retired teacher, has made a promise to find out what happened to her long-lost niece, Tekla. When Lia learns from a neighbour, Achi, that Tekla might have left their Georgian homeland and be living in Turkey, Lia and Achi set off together to find her. Arriving in Istanbul, they discover a beautiful city full of connections and possibilities. But searching for someone who never intended to be found is harder than they expected – until they meet Evrim, a lawyer fighting for trans rights. As Lia and Achi weave their way through the city’s backstreets, Tekla starts to feel closer than ever.
Levan Akin’s fourth feature film is filled with an impressive emotional immediacy. Two initially hesitant strangers overcome not only ideological but also internal boundaries on their mission and join forces. The topography of the city plays just as important a role in this ode to humanity as the array of characters that live within it.« (Synopsis: Berlinale Panorama 2024)
