The »Netzwerk Mutterschaft und Wissenschaft«, »SAFI Network« and »Women From Arts to Engineering« (WAE) are currently conducting a survey on the diverse experiences of disadvantages faced by parents and other unpaid care workers in the scientific community. The aim of the survey is to make these experiences visible and to compile a collection of information on experiences of discrimination with third-party funding programs. Participation takes 5-10 minutes.
Dear parents and scientists,
Due to the multiple instances of discrimination experienced by parents and other unpaid care workers in the scientific community, we would like to collect information on experiences of discrimination with third-party funding programs.
Perhaps you have had such experiences yourself, or stumbled across questionable wording, deadlines, etc. in calls for funding (e.g., the lack of supplementary child benefits in fellowships abroad)?
Our goal is to draw attention to these experiences and the exclusion they create, and to collect recommendations for actions that funding institutions can take. In the longer term, the aim is to put an end to structural (intersectional) discrimination against parents and other unpaid care workers in the scientific community
For this purpose, we have created a short survey to capture these experiences, which we invite you to complete. The tool we have chosen for this is Lime Survey. The survey takes 5- 10 minutes.

The survey will be extended until the final deadline of January 31, 2024. You can participate more than once, for example, to enter observations about different funding programs. The results of the survey will be evaluated and published in cooperation with the Gewerkschaft für Erziehung und Wissenschaft (GEW) and the Max-Träger-Foundation.
Data Protection Statement
This survey is conducted anonymously and participation is voluntary. No personal data will be collected in this survey. Your information will be used exclusively to review the current situation and assess needs for the implementation of equal opportunities in research funding. The evaluation of the survey will be carried out by the Network Motherhood and Science and the above-mentioned cooperation partners.
We thank you for your support and hope you will contribute many examples and details so that we can take action to combat discrimination against parents and other unpaid care workers in the scientific community.
If you have any questions or comments about the survey, please feel free to contact us at umfrage.foerderung[at]gmail.com.
